Let’s talk about faucets for a moment.
Whether you are simply looking to upgrade the plumbing fixtures in your home for cosmetic purposes or have found yourself in the market to buy a new faucet because your current fixture has failed, we want to help you make the best decision for your home and finances. So let United Plumbing, your Springfield Missouri Plumber, discuss the dos and don’ts of faucet buying with you.
It is important to choose a faucet brand with a long-standing reputation for making excellent products. Sometimes the saying “you get what you pay for” is true and sometimes – it’s not.
While high-end faucet manufacturing companies can produce beautiful products, it is important to consider the cost of installation, functionality, and (most importantly) how costly/difficult it will be to repair a leaky faucet in the event it malfunctions. On the other end, sometimes a faucet may be aesthetically pleasing and inexpensive, but it is made of low-grade materials and won’t stand the test of time. We find this scenario most often with “off-brand” faucets purchased from the internet.
We recommend sticking with a brand such as Moen or Delta as they produce a high-quality product, a fair value, and (most importantly) are simple and less costly to repair compared to other brands. This is especially important when it comes to fixtures located inside the wall, such as your tub/shower valve (faucet). If you have a shower valve begin to leak and repair parts are not available for the fixture, you will likely need a valve/faucet replacement which can be quite costly and requires cutting into the wall to access the valve itself.
